Library program for children ages 4 to 12 years old.
Children were invited to bring light colored t-shirts or flip-flops to decorate at the library. The library provided beads, yarn, sewing trim, puffy paints, fabric markers, sequins, colored rhinestones, Sharpie permanent markers, and glue. For those who forgot to bring their own shirts or flip-flops, the library provided cardboard sun visors available for a low price at Oriental Trading.
Notes: This program was done as a Summer Reading event so we had a built in audience. Still, 72 people attended this event! The children were very creative. Most people followed the directions on the flier and brought stuff to decorate. We handed out very few sun visors. Be sure to have some newspaper or something else that is flat on hand to put in between the layers of the t-shirt so that the fabric paint does not bleed through to the other side of the t-shirt and "glues" shut.
