March Preschool Tours

This March I hosted another round of preschool tours for a nearby preschool. The children always squeel with delight when books come through the book drop!

  

 

For the Two's and Three's class I read:

January Preschool Field Trips

  This month, more than one preschool visited the library for a field trip.  A busy month!  After a tour of the library, we sat down for a short storytime.  I chose these books with a (light) transportation theme to entertain the kiddos.

December Preschool Field Trip

 This month I hosted a field trip from a local preschool.  After a tour of the library, we sat down for a short storytime.  I just happened to have two cat books sitting in my cubicle that were perfect for this job!

Preschool field trips return!

 After an absence of two years, the opportunity to conduct preschool field trips at my library presented itself.  I worked with one of the local preschools to create a socially distant field trip experience inside the library building.  

The group sizes were smaller, we couldn't go into the staff area, and masks were worn.  Otherwise, I was still able to show these three, four, and five year olds fun things about the library.  We ended each field trip with two book readings and a chance to play in the children's area.  

I found these two cow books in my cubicle as I was preparing for the field trips.  So I went with a cow theme for my storybook readings.

In order to fit in all of the classes at this particular preschool it took dividing the classes into 12 different groups.  I think it was a very positive experience for everyone involved.  

Winter Books to Share with Library Field Trips

June Books to Share with Library Field Trips

June has been full of lots of field trips to the library.  I have seen many kindergartners, first graders, and second graders this month.  I usually do a quick 25 minute tour followed by a book reading, and this time of year, some information about our summer reading program.  Here are the two books I used this month.

 

Crash, Splash, or Moo! by Bob Shea (I had one group of kindergartners come with their sixth grade buddies.  Even the sixth graders were having fun with this book.  I consider this high praise!)

Summer Reading School Visits: Books

School visits and field trips to promote summer reading are done and now summer reading is in full swing.  This is such a busy, but fun, time of year!  Here are the books I used with my visits to the K-3rd grade classes.

This spring I have a new round of field trips coming to the library and outreach adventures out to area daycare providers.  I am always looking for good books to share with the kiddos, especially ones that are not necessarily books I would use at my weekly toddler storytimes.  Here are some gems I plan to use:
